Celebrating 18 years of Supporting Higher Education!

We’re looking forward to you joining us as we honor our 2023 Blackburn Scholar and celebrate 18 years of supporting higher education for Marion County students!

The Walter & Alpha Blackburn Scholarship Fund has traditionally presented the Men of Substance and Style Fashion Extravaganza in tribute to Walter Blackburn and ALL men and women who proudly exemplify that ideal. This year will be no different. The 18th Annual Fashion Extravaganza will feature the incomparable fashion authority and gifted Fashion Color Commentator, Ms. Willie Ray of Chicago.

THE MAIN EVENT – Our Master of Ceremony is David Rose, Co-Founder of the Walter Blackburn Scholarship Fund. The 2023 Blackburn Scholar and Book Award Honorees will be introduced during the program.

THE SHOW – Doors open at 4 p.m. for cocktails, networking, shopping and LIVE! entertainment by The Carl Hines Trio. Dinner for ticketed patrons begins at 5 PM. VIP dinner tickets are $150 each, $1,000 for a table of 4 and $1,500 for a table of 8.

Scholarship Presentation

The Walter & Alpha Blackburn Scholarship Fund supports local youth, deserving students will be presented with scholarships to help them reach their goals through collage or other secondary learning experience.
Dinner & Live Entertainment

Protege Awards

The 2023 Walter Blackburn Protégé Awardees are Larnell and Jarnell Burks. The Walter Blackburn Protégé Award is presented to individuals who have had a distinguished career in dedication to family, community and professional excellence. Protégé Sponsorships are available for $2,000 and include a table of 8 and special recognition throughout the evening.

A select array of vendors, including hand crafted fashion jewelry and other specialty fashion items, will be available for purchase as the perfect complement to collections from Mamadou “Ben” Diallo and Alphonso Wright, Elan Furs, and the 2023 Collection by Indianapolis’ Premiere designer, Alpha Blackburn
